The hands of the artist’s wife are the subject of this work. Intimate and yet anonymous, they are paused in a moment of repose and consideration.
This work marks a moment of hope and anxiety in the life of the subject and the artist and the opposing dualities of their context.
Roxy Xie is an emerging artist developing her practice on the unceded lands of Naarm.
In the midst of the pandemic, she looks forward to the intermittent opportunities to return to the mentored studio space at Fitzroy Painters. During the lockdowns, she works primarily in alla prima from her home studio/living room.
Roxy is currently interested in further development of works in portraiture and still-life. She is interested in representations of humanity and layered emotional experiences.
