Cott sundown, 2023

OIL
22 × 33 cm
This work was from a photo I took one Christmas spent in Perth. The late summer sun made icecream pastels and the beach was crowded. There was no wind like there usually can be and the heat was still strong late in the day. I have tried to capture that warmth. Having lived in England for 6 years something about the Australian summer still feels exotic and alien to me , even though I’ve been here most of my adult years.

Painting in oils I strive to imitate emotion in paint. Usually in one sitting I work from life or photo. I am experimental with and still learning about oil paint. Since starting my business as an artist in 2020 I am mainly focused on stilllife, some commissioned portraiture and beach landscapes.
