Sacha Taylor

Weaker Vessel, 2022

MID FIRE LIGHT SPECKLED SOURCED FROM SOUTH EAST MELBOURNE, VICTORIA. LIQUID QUARTZ.
19 × 10 × 10 cm
‘Weaker Vessel’ pays homage to women and the female form. Her ribs are exposed, with her curvature and body not like another. This piece repudiates the biblical claim that women are a ‘Weaker Vessel’, by providing the ironic dichotomy of the ceramic material composition, which will endure for centuries.
Sacha Mary-Raine Taylor is a ceramicist from Meanjin, Australia. Starting in 2014, Sacha began ceramics as a way to slow down and enjoyed working with the tactile nature of various clay bodies. Over the years, she worked alongside virtuosos to learn and grow as an artist. Influenced by modern architecture, Sacha focuses on conceptual curiosity to create functional and sculptural objects that offer a sense of calm and quiet confidence. The tones of her work are inspired by the Australian landscape and coupled with neutral glazes that preserve and celebrate the natural colour of the clay. “
