OIL ON BOARD

My practice is concerned with nostalgia and our connection to objects passed down or collected over time, objects that offer a glimpse of a previous life. I'm interested in portraying these everyday treasures in a contemporary context.

The medium I’m working in is oil on board. I’ve been enjoying the unexpected effects of this medium, embracing drips and textures as they spontaneously arise.

Inspired by the works of Monet, Bonnard, Vuillard and Matisse, I have been exploring clean, bold colour palettes and expressive line work.

My aim is to produce works of unapologetic charm to celebrate these beautiful "old dames" and evoke memories of times past.
Sue Tesoriero is a painter based in Sydney’s Inner West. Sue holds a bachelor degree in visual communications. She has studied fine art part time at the National Art School and the Wiesbaden Fachhochschule in Germany. Both Sue’s Interior and still life works embody the sacredness of objects; attaching meaning and relationships to the things we hold dear, conjuring memories of people, places and time. Sue works both in acrylic and oils. Sue has exhibited works in group shows both locally and abroad as well as a solo show at AK Bellinger Gellery in 2020. Sue’s work was recently a finalist in 2020 MWAP – Meroogal Women’s Art Prize and 2019 EMSLA – Eutick Memorial Still Life Award.
