Linda Greedy

Banksia serrata in two vases, 2023

OIL ON TIMBER
90 × 90 cm
The body of work from which this painting belongs comes while navigating my elderly mother’s illness, a time of chaos and confusion. Precious time immersing myself in nearby coastal bushland restores my sense of self and calm. I begin to see the Banksia leaves as large capable, comforting hands. I bring some home to my studio. Painting the foliage becomes a point focus and meditation. A chance to steady and recentre, to appreciate beauty, fragility and transience.
