Onwards!, 2022

“Onwards” is part of a developing series entitled “CBD Cast and Carved ” that responds to public sculptures (other than Colonial males) in context in Sydney. This painting explores the notion of progress and juxtaposed cultural traditions.

Michelle was born in Orange but has lived, studied and worked in Sydney, NSW most of her life. As her CV will indicate she has a strong background in Fine Arts and Visual Arts education and brings academic rigour and meticulous technical strength to her painting practice in her studio in Georges Heights. Michelle’s work tends to address both the mundane and significant iconography of built structures within people groups and as such can provoke recognition and elicit nostalgia.
