I have vivid memories as a child staying at a family friends farm during school holidays in a place called Sunny Corner…
Whilst the adults drank, chatted and played cards, I, a child in an adults world, would sit with the animals and talk with them… Creating this artwork has been the process of psychologically reframing a childhood memory to bring forth the feeling of protection, connectedness and comradeship with the animals… they were my people.
With no prior knowledge or training, I first picked up a paintbrush in 2018 and quickly developed a strong art practice painting each day… with existential learning each time I put brush to canvas … In December 2021 I finally managed to tap into my own unique style, and I now share intimate stories of my life through painting the physical, psychological and emotional adventures of the girl and dog.
