My work begins with the human figure, but is ultimately driven by abstraction. I am interested in what happens when a single point of view is allowed to shift. I move around the figure, work across different sittings and sometimes introduce different bodies onto the same surface. A line begun by one figure may be continued by another. Nothing needs to cancel what came before.

The physical process is equally important. I deliberately relinquish a degree of control, often drawing and painting with long, irregular sticks that make precision impossible and marks unpredictable. I welcome that uncertainty. Rather than imposing an outcome, I work intuitively with what appears—responding, retaining, altering and allowing the work to lead somewhere I could not have planned.

For me, abstraction creates space for different perceptions to coexist. I am interested in the beauty that appears when certainty gives way to possibility.

What remains is not a record of what was seen, but what became possible through looking.
