Nomadic Reverie, 2022

I am drawn to scenes in domestic settings and intimate public spaces and look for how objects can be expressed to share an experience or sense of cultural connection. I belong to the Viet diaspora and the concerns, conflicts and opportunities of walking two worlds informs much of my work living in Australia.

Hop Dac is a Vietnamese-Australian painter and writer who came to Western Australia as a refugee in 1980. He studied Fine Art at Curtin University and moved to Melbourne in 2002 where he eventually studied Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT. He has been painting full-time since November 2021. Hop lives in Wadawurrung country with his partner and their two daughters.
