CERAMIC
35 × 17 × 17 cm
Lived experiences and memories inform peoples’ beliefs and ideologies. I am interested in how the experiences of daily life shape us and create memories conjuring nostalgic thoughts. Scents, sounds and visuals are the vehicles which deliver an essence of the past. Nostalgia, coupled with an admiration and concern for native flora and birdlife, informs my art practice. My detailed hand built ceramic forms, are inspired by the complexities of the natural environment combined with deliberately re-created glaze finishes adopted from old decorative Japanese crockery, traditional blue and white ware and English fine China. Through my works, the audience is free to morph their own memories into new and imagined ones: they are forced to question what is real and what is not.
I am an Artist /Educator based in ALBURY NSW. My formal qualifications include a BA Fine Arts and Post Graduate Diploma of Education. My primary focus is the exploration of hand built ceramics. I have actively exhibited my work for the past 5 years, with my next exhibition in 2023 at the Murray Art Museum Albury. I have taken part in 3 Artist Residencies in Jingdezhen China, with my next scheduled residency in St Raphael, France, May 2023. My most recent work was selected for the Emerging Art Exhibition at Clay Gulgong 2022.
