A career in graphic design led me to start to develop my own art practice from the year 2000.
Since then I have explored many creative avenues, yet hard as I try to “put the scalpel down”, for me my work comes together with the addition of collage.
In the past, collage has dominated my mixed media pieces , intricately cut images melding with paint and drawn elements to create whimsical “fantastic” but quite pictorial new worlds.
This process and application was very exacting and my quest now is to channel intuition and more emotion in my work going forward.
More recently, I have sought to take the pressure off and embrace play with a new found freedom and spontaneity being the direction I hope with which to continue.
Larger surfaces, a more subdued and subtle colour palette with paint and pastel the dominant medium and minimal, but for me, mandatory carefully curated collage elements.
I am striving for a sense of balance, light and a harmony of movement, a serenity to build on and around.
I want to create pieces that are worth lingering over and contemplating, art that you want to return to and reflect upon.
