Amanda McColl is an abstract painter based on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. In 1973 Amanda commenced a diploma of Art and Design at Prahran College only to feel disillusioned. A change of career and family took up the next years before Amanda was able to recommence her art career and practice full time.
Amanda is a passionate artist and takes great joy in creating art that can be enjoyed and loved by others. Each artwork created is unique, speaking one thing to one and another to someone else. Shocks of colour and undulations of texture are at the core of her work. She is proud to present a selection of work that are each individual, bespoke, unrepeated and in varied sizes – optical compilations of colour, texture, shapes, contours and movement. Her preferred medium is acrylic on canvas or paper.
Unrepresented ever by a gallery, Amanda has exhibited in non-commercial spaces in Hong Kong and Melbourne many times over the last 27 years. Her paintings are held in collections in the USA, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.
Established in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was created to provide an annual, highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.
