Eligibility

Entries must be submitted online by 1 September 2025.

Artists must reside primarily in Australia. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

NEAP defines emerging artists as those not represented by a major commercial gallery. Artists who have exhibited casually with smaller commercial galleries may still be eligible. If you have exhibited regularly with commercial galleries, please list them in your application. Final eligibility as an emerging artist is at the discretion of the NEAP committee.

Entry Requirements

There is no limit to the number of entries per artist, however, each artwork must be submitted individually, with a non-refundable entry fee of $35 per artwork.

All submitted works must:

• Be the artist’s original work.
• Be completed in 2024 or 2025.
• Not infringe upon the copyright of another artist.

By submitting an entry, artists agree to receive future communications from NEAP.

Submission Process

• Entries cannot be edited once submitted.
• We recommend drafting written responses offline to prevent data loss.
• Each entry must include a high-resolution digital image (maximum 5MB) in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format.
• Files must be named as follows: SURNAME_FIRSTNAME_ARTWORK_TITLE.
• Upon submission, a confirmation email will be sent (check junk folder if not received). Confirmation will also be visible in your logged-in account.

Exhibition Requirements

Finalist works must be:

• Available for exhibition and sale.
• Delivered in the condition and format specified by the prize guidelines.

All sale prices quoted must include GST (if applicable) and sales commission.

NEAP will retain a 50% commission on all sales.

Finalist works will be exhibited and consigned by Michael Reid Northern Beaches, ABN 21 638 072 527.

Freight, delivery, and collection of artworks are the sole responsibility of the artist.

Artworks not collected after the exhibition may be stored at the artist's expense.

NEAP and its venues will take all reasonable care but are not responsible for loss or damage. Artists are advised to arrange their own insurance.

Judging & Selection

• Finalists will be selected by the NEAP selection panel. Only selected finalists will be exhibited.
• No substitutes for works submitted will be accepted.
• The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence or appeals will be considered.

Painting

• Maximum size: 120cm on the longest side, including frame.
• Accepted media: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, natural pigment, pastel, mixed media, or collage.
• Pricing cap: Paintings must be priced no higher than $5,000.
• Works must be ready to hang with D-rings and wire.
• Framing is optional.

Photography

• Maximum finished size: 100cm on the longest side (including borders/handling area).
• Minimum accepted size: 20cm x 20cm.
• Exhibition format: Works must be submitted in tubes and will be exhibited unframed, pinned directly to the gallery wall.
• Edition limits: Works must not exceed 15 editions. Recommended structure: 8 + 2AP.
• Pricing cap: Unframed editions must be priced no higher than $3,000.

NEAP considers all submissions to be exhibition prints. While care will be taken, NEAP is not responsible for marks or imperfections incurred during the exhibition and pinning.
