Wish upon a moon, 2024

RAKU CLAY (STONEWARE FIRING) , 10% GOLD LUSTRE PAINTING
11 × 12 × 12 cm
$800
This work reinterprets the traditional Korean moon jar in a contemporary context. In Korea, the full moon holds significant meaning as a symbol of comfort and abundance. Historically, people have made wishes upon the full moon, hoping for its blessings. The repetitive act of applying gold dots to the moon jar not only enhances the inherent qualities of craftsmanship but also reflects the act of making wishes to the moon. This process aims to convey emotional comfort to viewers, extending beyond mere visual beauty.
