Unravelling of Dusk Dreams, 2024

‘Unravelling of Dusk Dreams’ captures the memory of time spent in nature. Sea and sky, bush and beach. Walks in the evening, the breeze caressing branches, bark, skin. Through the process of applying layers of substance to surface, I hope the audience senses atmosphere, and are able to connection with the painting through memory recognition of their own outdoor experiences.

I am investigating the process of painting, the physical act, through the exploration of gesture, brushstroke, colour and the materiality of paint. I want to convey the relationship between painter and painting, the performance that takes place in the private space, the outcome becoming an object for the public space. Through the undertaking of thought, memory, feeling and action, I hope my work can engage the viewer to experience, and not just see, a painting.
