“The many layers of whimsy”, 2024

My idea was for this flower to show itself as it wanted to be seen, layer upon layer of paint applied by hand, scraped, drizzled, wiped and applied again. Many colours merged and blended until finally I could see how the shape needed to feel and that is what this painting is about – the feels.

I am based on the far south coast of NSW. The village of Candelo is my home and is in close proximity to rugged coastal beaches, escarpment and ranges, Monaro plains and the Alpine region all a source of endless inspiration for my work. I use acrylics and enjoy creating traditional backgrounds with a touch of the unexpected. I hope you enjoy my work.
