Swamp Gums at Noon, 2021

Painted as part of a daily painting from life challenge throughout September.
With this en plain air painting I selected a different palette to previous days, trying to add variation to the shadows in the branches from how they've appeared in other works.
I painted this work with a focus on the clouds and the areas of bright reflected light as they moved behind the canopy. Beginning with a cornflower blue sky my painting soon reflected how the weather had turned stormy as I painted.
