My interior series explores my relationship with my studio, its objects, and the daily practices of drawing, meditation and yoga. I also bring my cat Socks into work regularly, so he plays a part in a lot of my work. The objects I paint are things I see every day. My mother has a huge influence in my love of pattern that is seen in most of my works. She was a jewellery designer for Georges and David Jones in the 80s, the house was filled with jars and jars of jewels and pelts of leather. I used to stare at the beads in wonder. My mother died when I was 13; she was my biggest supporter and encouraged me from the beginning of time to be an artist. She used to laminate all of my artwork, and we would use them as placemats. She legitimised my creativity. I am so excited for my new series and direction. I am practising life drawing with Prudence Flint at Linden Galleries, and I have a daily meditation, visual journaling, and yoga practice. It’s really helping my mind to open up to getting in the flow much more regularly.
