OIL STICK INK AND ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
102 × 120 cm
My interior series explores the relationship that I have with my studio the objects in it and the daily practices of drawing mediation and yoga. I also bring my cat socks into work regularly so he plays a part in lot of my works. The objects I paint are things I see every day. My mother has a huge influence in my love of pattern that is seen in most of my works. She was a jewellery designers for Georges and David jones in the 80s, the house was filled with jars and jars of jewels and pelts of leather. I used to stare at the beads in wonder. My mother died when I was 13 she was my biggest supporter and encouraged me from the beginning of time to be an artist. She used to laminate all of my artwork and we would use them as place mats. She legitimised my creativity. I am so excited for my new series and direction. I am practicing life drawing with Prudence Flint at Linden galleries, have a daily mediation visual journaling, and daily yoga practice. Its really helping my mind open to getting in the flow much more regularly.
