Nick Coulson (b. 1973, Melbourne) is a Brisbane-based artist whose paintings explore everyday objects, which tend to be small, mostly domestic, and often overlooked. Painting from both observation and photos.
Nick has been a finalist in the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023), the Hawkesbury Art Prize (2021), the Stanthorpe Art Prize (2021), the Byron Arts Magazine Prize (2018, 2020) and the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (2018 and 2019).
Nick was included in the ACB Selects 2023 exhibition.
Nick has been part of group exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and his work is held in private collections in Australia, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
Established in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was created to provide an annual, highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.
