Stillness in Bathurst Harbour, 2024

OIL ON CANVAS
51 × 60 cm
An adventure-filled place. Here I spent eight days kayaking the surrounding area. We were met with rough seas, high winds, sideways rain, and even hail. It was bitterly cold at times and I loved every moment of it. On our last day, the wild winds stopped, and everything fell still. I was struck by how different it felt in that untamed Tasmanian landscape when the wind died away. I felt so utterly at peace.

I am an Australian landscape painter situated in the picturesque coastal city of Newcastle (NSW). I draw inspiration from the simple beauty of our natural environment to create oil paintings that capture the essence of tranquillity. I offer the audience an opportunity to find solace in nature’s embrace. Through my paintings, I enjoy sharing the sense of calm felt when we pause in nature and catch our breath; here, time stands still, and worries melt away. I have a particular love for bodies of water, clouds and rugged rocks.

In 2021, I took up residence at Onwards Gallery and Studios, which has greatly propelled my development as an artist. I have exhibited works in group exhibitions at Onwards Gallery and Studios, The Creator Incubator, Newcastle Art Space and John Hunter Hospital (Arts of Health program), and this year, I won the Hall & Wilcox Law Firm’s local emerging artist prize, which was an acquisition of my artwork.
