Lente Oosthuizen, a South African migrated to Australia 12 years ago. She lives with her husband and two kids in Newcastle, NSW.
Lente is drawn to the bush, forests, mountains, water and landscapes.
She finds inspiration in botanicals, the ocean, aerial perspectives, geography and topography, cross sections and any texture and organic element found in nature. Every walk in nature has me in awe of creation, and a feeling of ‘I need to paint that!’
Her passion for painting and creating art finally started in 2020 after many years of knowing to just dive in and start.
Having a career as hairdresser with 20 years experience and speciality in color, a large part of her art practice is based on her knowledge in color theory.
She has a special love for oils and palette knives, and loves the texture and dimension she can create with it.
Contemporary landscapes and landscape expressionism describes her work.
Established in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was created to provide an annual, highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.
