Sextuple-fired ceramic no. 2, 2024

STONEWARE, PORCELAIN, GLAZE, GLASS, COPPER, STEEL, FIBREGLASS, ENAMEL.
32 × 27 × 7 cm
This work is made from a combination of found materials, traditional ceramic mediums, glass, metals and enamels; and it appears here as the latest iteration of an evolving sculptural work. High-fired six times over, with multiple ruptures and reconstructions along the way, this piece has existed as three distinct works (thus far) within its life. The multiple firings and iterative constructions facilitate accumulative material transformations, while extending the life and aesthetic potential of the material object beyond one existence. Here themes of temporality, perpetual change, and material reuse emerge.

Anni Hagberg (b.1995, Cairns) is a Finnish-Australian visual artist based in Naarm/Melbourne.
