Minerals, earth, sand are all matter that is formed and reformed. The dust from large rocks worn over time travels, petrifies and finds new form. Like our cultural history, we form and reform ideas, values and memories. We find comfort in nostalgia and mystery in ancient objects. I don’t know where the clay has been before my hands worked it. It was part rock somewhere in this world and now it is my retelling of history. Like chiselling a boulder to find a gemstone, I am interested in memory and how mundane objects transform over time into precious artefacts.
