Margaret graduated from the National Art School in 2018 with a major in painting. She has been a finalist in a number of Australian prizes including the Basil Sellers Art Prize, the Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award and the Waverley Art Prize. She has twice been selected for the Amber Creswell Bell Selects online exhibition.
Margaret takes her camping and painting equipment to remote places in the Australian bush. She spends time gathering material for her work, making many plein air paintings and sketches. The places which inspire her work are sometimes clear and sometimes serve as a launching point for her imagination. In her final studio paintings, Margaret aims to create a space for thought and reflection.
Established in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was created to provide an annual, highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.
