Green On Green captures an ordinary, overlooked scene in the Australian rural landscape: green shipping containers sitting in a field of grass beneath an expansive blue sky.

I am drawn to moments where evidence of human activity quietly interrupts the landscape. The containers are functional objects, but removed from their usual industrial context they become ambiguous. Their purpose is unclear, inviting questions about what they contain, where they have come from, and why they are there. In this way, a simple rural scene begins to suggest a story.

My photographic practice is concerned with observing these understated interactions between humans and the environment. I often explore the edges of country towns, looking for places where agricultural, industrial and natural landscapes meet. These transitional spaces can reveal unexpected moments of beauty or mystery.

I am particularly interested in scenes that feel cinematic—images that appear to be part of a larger story but leave the viewer to imagine what happened before or what might happen next. Green On Green is deliberately quiet and minimal, allowing colour, form and space to carry the image.

The repetition of green creates an almost abstract quality, while the blue sky provides a simple counterpoint. This restraint reflects my interest in minimalism in both music and visual art, where small gestures and subtle relationships can become meaningful.

For me, the photograph sits somewhere between observation and fiction: a real place, encountered by chance, but transformed through framing into something slightly strange, poetic and unresolved.
