My art celebrates the unseen labour of everyday people, fostering appreciation for their vital contributions. Through loose brushstrokes that capture the frenetic energy of a Hong Kong fish market, I depict the fleeting moments that comprise our ordinary lives. This work explores the universal themes of joy and struggle, reminding us of our shared humanity.

Born and raised in the vibrant metropolis of Hong Kong, Heidi Lai contemplates the pace of modern life. Having observed the dynamic interactions between people and the urban landscape, she now channels her artistic lens to capture fleeting moments and uncover the essence of life.

Drawing inspiration from her real-life experience in the metropolis, Heidi Lai quietly observes the interaction with humans and their surroundings and uses paintings to capture the very moment and find out the essence of life. The use of warm colours and bold brush strokes create a sense of nostalgia and vagueness to the particular memory. The daily experience as a subject matter instantly taps into the audience’s memories and builds emotional resonance.
