Crookhaven River, 2024

MID FIRE CLAY, SLIP, WATER COLOUR UNDER GLAZES, CERAMIC PENCIL AND CRAYON.
3 × 29 × 21 cm
The Crookhaven River is rich with marine life and surrounded by the silhouette of the Cambewarra Mountain range, lush farmland and coastal mangroves. This piece is an observation of my time on the river; my organic forms echo the patterns and textures in the landscape, and my mark-making reflects the landscape as I paddle down the river at a slow pace.

Catherine is a ceramic artist based on the Northern Beaches and has been working with clay for over ten years and has a Diploma of Ceramics.
Her work displays a spontaneous & energetic quality. Her vessels are either thrown or hand-built. She loves to show a throwing line or fingerprint; when you handle one of her pieces, you can feel the energy & get an appreciation of the plasticity of the clay.
