Art is lurking everywhere and, in the words of Hopkins, 'but the beholder wanting'. A glint of light here, a surprise texture there – even and old swimming towel hung on a glass door panel to hold back the summer sun can be momentarily transformed into and unexpected shadow play. The ordinary occasionally shows off, and delights in us noticing.

Every year in primary schools across Australia, children make a sea of handprints in recognition of reconciliation during NAIDOC Week. In this image, a lone adult hand shadow hovers hopefully over a multicoloured background.
