Between Worlds is a sensory, emotional and intuitive response to the Hawkesbury landscape of Sydney. This composition presents a reductive, pared back observation of place, that inhabits a space between realism and abstraction. Light and mist become vehicles for dissolving boundaries, unveiling a space that opens onto the unseen, inviting a contemplative stillness where presence is sensed rather than seen. Alluding to the familiar while deliberately withholding, the work conceives to evoke a sense of mystery, inviting viewers to engage with the deeper and often unseen connections that bind us to one another and the natural world.

My landscaping practice explores the complex relationship between perception, consciousness and our connection to the natural world capturing the ever-changing moments of the ephemeral, ethereal and the transient. Inspired by the landscapes of Guringai and Dyarubbin, and informed by the philosophical framework of phenomenology, I endeavour to capture the emotional and intuitive response to the beauty of these places, inviting a stillness and contemplation.

Central to my practice is the embodied experience of the landscape, where mind and body are integrally connected and actively engaged. My paintings become vehicles for the expression of the immersive embodied experience of place, capturing its essence through feeling, emotion, memory and intuition. Through this lens, the landscape transcends the visual revealing a heightened awareness of the intricate web of connections that unify humans, non humans and the often unseen connections that bind us to the landscapes that we inhabit.
