The Glow of Goodbye, 2025

‘The Glow of Goodbye’ was inspired by a wilting rose bush at the beginning of winter. There’s something quietly beautiful about the way things fade. Flowers don’t lose their grace as their petals start to curl, they simply show a different kind of beauty. A beauty that feels softer, deeper, and more honest. This painting is about that moment, not just in nature, but in life. The twilight years, whether in a garden or in a life well lived, hold a glow that is unlike any other. It’s a time when light lingers a little longer, casting warmth over memories and giving us space to reflect on all the chapters that came before. I wanted this piece to feel like a gentle goodbye, but not a sad one. A goodbye filled with gratitude, colour, and the golden light of everything that has been. It’s about finding beauty in the quiet, tender moments at the end of a season, and seeing how love, joy, and memory still shine through. Even as things change and fade, there is always something worth holding close. Something that glows. ‘The Glow of Goodbye’ reflects the quiet beauty found in fading moments. Moments when life, like a wilting bloom, carries a soft glow of memory, gratitude, and a gentle farewell.

Cameilia Grace Edwards is an emerging artist based in a small NSW regional town, she paints from a shared studio space in town with a large street-facing window, offering the community a glimpse into her process and a quiet connection to her evolving work. Over the past four and a half years, she has been transitioning from commission-based work to developing her own personal style, rooted in light, memory, and stillness. Cameilia has been selected as a finalist in the 2024 National Emerging Art Prize and the 2023 Lethbridge Small Scale Art Prize, and has twice received acquisition prizes in the Inverell Art Prize (2020 and 2023).
Cameilia has recently had success with a sold out solo exhibition with Michael Reid Southern Highlands.
