Green sea in my head, walls rocking. I walk the pier of the hall, moon nailed above me, owl watching. The bed waits, gold edge gleaming. But the rope of a dream, still, I could not climb.

Suxing Zhang explores the intersection of history, memory, and cultural identity through painting. By reinterpreting historical photographs, Zhang interweaves personal and collective narratives, creating layered works that challenge static notions of time and place. Blending traditional techniques with contemporary interventions, his practice invites cross-cultural dialogue, revealing how art can reshape inherited stories into living connections. Zhang’s work ultimately seeks to illuminate the threads that bind disparate communities and individuals, offering space for reflection on identity, belonging, and the enduring resonance of the past.
