Alight, 2025

‘Alight’ balances stillness, anticipation, and unease. Acting as the main character of this scene, light and its interaction with space, introduces tension to the mundane and familiar. The closely cropped composition robs the viewer of context, encouraging the audience to draw their own conclusions about the scene and its surroundings.

Huw is a Sydney-based oil painter whose practice focuses on the role of light in transforming the spaces and moments we often overlook in our everyday lives. He studied Fine Arts at UNSW’s College of Fine Arts, and has had paintings exhibited in a number of painting competitions and group shows.
