Last Repeat explores the relationship between medical compliance, routine, and identity. The work features twenty-five white medicine bottles arranged in a repetitive grid, representing the ongoing cycle of prescriptions and the monotony that can shape daily life. The detailed, focused centre contrasts with the blurred, distorted edges, reflecting my lived experience with essential tremors and the instability it brings to both life and artmaking. Modelling paste was used to recreate the familiar resistance of childproof lids, adding a tactile element that recalls the repetitive rituals of opening and using medication. The soft, airbrushed borders disrupt the sense of order, suggesting how long-term routine can blur one’s perception of self. By combining clarity with distortion, the piece questions how repetition can provide structure while also leading to emotional fatigue or disconnection. It invites the viewer to consider the unseen psychological weight of compliance and the ways identity is shaped by ongoing medical experience.

A colourblind artist from Central West NSW, he has lived in the region his entire life and draws inspiration from its people and surroundings. His interest lies in painting subjects that stand out as unusual or thought-provoking.

Working primarily with acrylics, he creates works based on real people and objects. His art often invites humour or curiosity, relying on the viewer’s personal experience to shape meaning and response.

In addition to his artistic practice, he is a full-time university student studying civil engineering while also working in the field. Painting offers him a creative outlet that contrasts with his technical career, and he aims to grow professionally in both areas.
