In this work, branches of green quinces, freshly plucked from a friend’s city garden, rest upon a cool, marble kitchen bench in the heart of the home. The composition captures the delicate interplay between the young, unripe fruit and the cold, mineral surface, creating a tender contrast of warm vs. cold, hard vs. soft, and old vs. new. Highlighting the quiet beauty and promise of these unripe quinces against the natural materials set in an urban home, the piece delves into the subtle dance of contradictions that permeate our lives. It reflects on our yearning to stay balanced and grounded amid the bustling realities of urban life, and how seeking connection with the natural world and natural materials help us achieve this.

I am Melbourne-based artist and stylist, and I embarked on my painting journey in 2022. With a background in design (architecture and fashion), and a childhood immersed in creativity, I have always been fascinated with how we seek beauty in our surrounds, and in how we choose the objects and rituals that bring meaning to our lives.

My practice aims to explore these connections. Through my tender still lifes and landscapes, I strive to find grace in the ordinary: whether it is taking in a cloudy sky, treasuring a cup of tea in a favourite teacup, or the burgeoning promise of unripe fruit. Serene and introspective, my practice embraces light, shadow and movement to punctuate the transience of time.

Each piece invites you to pause, reflect, and connect with the moment in a profound way.
