These press-moulded ceramic baby bottles are a reflection of my journey through the complexities of self-discovery and identity. Growing up, I often felt like I didn’t know where I belonged, moving between different groups, genres of family, and friendships, always adapting, always masking. Each bottle is a vessel of memory, with the colour palette being deeply symbolic narrating the emotional states I navigated: the warmth of acceptance, the vibrancy of discovery, and the darkness of self-doubt. With complex moments, I share my emotional connections with vivid clarity, together with those where I blended into the background, unseen yet present. Through these textural works, I am able to confront the duality of my existence -the struggle to be visible in a world that often felt foreign, and the comfort I sometimes found in the safety of obscurity. This series is a testament to the process of self-revelation, navigating my internal and external landscape to understand the girl who was always searching for a place to call her own.

Dedicated to research and investigation, Lorraine delves deep, making vessels, laying a landscape supporting both the internal and external dialogue that lay within the human condition. She responds both consumed by and responsive to the world around her. Living through emotions that are embedded in our personal connections’ relationships and experiences, her vessels are raw and exposed, she embraces the cracks that appear, the imperfections…… its who we are, it’s the human condition.
Lorraine studied ceramics at Lismore Tafe, N.S.W. completing her Diploma of Ceramics in 2023, receiving an award for her innovation, dedication, and commitment at her graduating exhibition.
