Ali Anderson completed a Bachelor of Fine Art from the National Art School, majoring in painting in 2021. Her love of colour was nurtured at the School of Colour and Design and interest in drawing at the Julian Ashton Art School. She moved with her family to Bali and Cambodia for ten years and it was there she developed an interest in South East Asian Art, particularly inspired by the textiles and batiks of Indonesia and the reliefs on the temples in Cambodia. Returning to Sydney she continued her love of travel and interest in Asian cultures working as a travel designer specializing in travel to India and Sri Lanka. She currently lives in regional NSW where she divides her time between managing her small herd of Angus cattle, honing her gardening skills and continuing her painting practice.
Established in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was created to provide an annual, highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.
